A two-hour delay and drenching rain during the race couldn't stop the Randall Lady Raiders cross country team from winning the Class 4A-5A division of the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University and moving to 5-0 on the season.

"I'm just glad we got through it without injury," Lady Raider coach Rebekah James said. "They ran all the divisions (1A-6A) together, and there were over 1,000 girls out there, and it was muddy."

Freshman Karyss Betzen won her third individual race this season, in 11 minutes, 43 seconds over the 3200-meter course to lead her team to victory with 31 points, comfortably ahead of Awty International with 59 points in the 21-team field.

The Canyon Eagles also soared to first place in a boys field of 28 teams to give the Texas Panhandle a sweep of the Class 4A-5A races. Treat Allison finished sixth in 17:07 to lead the Eagles, who scored 57 points to finish well ahead of Edmond Deer Creek with 79 and Plainview in third with 157 points.

Boys Ranch, led by the sixth-place finish of Jacob Myers, took third in the 1A-3A boys race.

Hartley's Derek Wieck finished fifth in a field of 190 in a time of 17:31.53 to lead Amarillo-area small-school runners.

The Spearman girls finished in 11th place out of 12 teams in the Class 1A-3A girls race. Spearman's Gena Hargrove took 24th individually on the 3200-meter course in 13:53.78.
