All-for-one, one-for-all philosophy serves Falcons as they prep for state meet

You couldn't find any Foster Falcons in the top 10 at last week's Class 4A Region III Meet, but you'll be able to find all of them at Saturday's UIL State Meet in Round Rock.

"This truly is a great team," Foster coach Mike Hale said. "They hang out and do just about everything together, and now, they're going to state together. I was almost in tears, especially thinking about the seniors and how special this is for them. It's special for all the team members."

The Foster boys placed third with 93 points to edge Brenham (101) by eight for the final state berth.

Friendswood won the Class 4A boys region title (41), Seven Lakes was the runner-up (87), and both join Foster at Saturday's state event at Old Settlers Park.

"The Brenham coach and I kept going back and forth, saying the other team had the advantage, and it came out we just got by them," Hale said. "It was too close to call before the final results were posted."

Sophomore Clint Pollock was Foster's highest finisher with a 12th-place time of 16 minutes, 40.83 seconds, but the other Falcons were flying in close formation.

Senior Brandon Kotzur was 14th (16:46.22), and another senior, Garrett Walsh, came in 19th (17:05.65), giving the Falcons three in the top 20.
