AUSTIN — It was sunny and therewere clear skies at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium on Saturday, and though the forecast didn't call for inclement weather, the place was hit by a hurricane.

The Hightower Hurricanes took the Class 5A state track meet by storm, winning the boys team title and setting a national record in the process. The Hurricanes compiled 51 points, highlighted by the 20 they picked up in winning the 800-meter relay. The quartet of Isaiah Sweeny, Cleon Davis, Ugonna Amarikwa and Clyde Lee set a national federation record with a time of 1:23.92, smashing the year-old record of 1:24.10 set by Eisenhower at last year's state meet.
