Week #7

Monday- I was trying hard to get out of work Monday morning so I can do my run. That didn't work out so well, so I ended up doing it at night. I had a Fartlek today so I did my warmup and got 2 miles in and then did my stretches. I had 2x 10 minutes, with 5 minutes recovery. I was feeling real good. I didn't really know what pace to hit so I just ran. My first my was a 4:45, I knew I had to slow down so I went to 4:55 my next mile. Then had 20 seconds left over so I got about 2.15 miles then I did 5 min slow jogging only getting about .75 of a mile. Then I started my 2nd set, this one was more controlled hitting 4:50 then 4:50 again. Again having 20 seconds left over so I had about 7.15 miles overall including the 2 mile cool down. I felt so much better, I guess the rest did help a lot.

Tuesday- I had a recovery run, I did 50 min and for around 7.25 miles. The run was relaxing and peaceful, I knew I had things to look forward to that night. I had a small lunch so I could have a great dinner. This dinner was special to me. My high school coaches Coach Cook and Coach Watts took me and Brock out to dinner at Olive Garden. Which is my favorite place. They took us out for our senior gifts. It was one of my favorite nights, a night stress free getting to sit down and reminisce about high school one last time before we went our separate ways.

Wednesday- This morning I went up to the high school to do my workout. I had 2 sets of 5x300s. I felt good but not as good as I did Monday. Monday's workout was one of those workouts where you feel unstoppable. Today's workout was good and all I was hitting between 45-50 each set with a 100m recovery in between and a little longer rest in between the sets. I was hitting high 40s the first set, then 45-47 the second set. I got a little over 2 miles during the workout with 4 miles during the warm up and cool down. Overall 6 miles. Today was also a great day. Last night while we were at dinner I got a text from Lauryn and Caylon asking if me and Brock wanted to go to Hurricane Harbor. I was pumped for it. We went today and we had so much fun. The car rides were fun me and Brock were in the back playing Rock Paper Scissors and doing other stupid stuff. We did all the rides except one. It was a great day.

Thursday- Today was a medium/ long run. Which was actually a great run. I was really tired though from yesterday. Me and Brock were supposed to do a 5am run, but he didn't wake up. I had to wait later then cause I had no motivation to do it at 5 am. I did my 80 min run around 8 am. I started at the high school and I was going to run to the park and meet up with Lauryn and run with her. I did run with her for about 5 minutes, then I had to pick up the pace. Knowing I had to pick it up more. My average pace on the run was 6:49. I just went to explore Forney and found some cool back roads. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone to pin the location or take pictures. I felt good, my calf was feeling a lot better and I'm feeling strong.

Friday- Today, was my last run with Brock before we went our separate ways and he moves off to college. It was one of my worst runs. I just didn't have the energy. He turned his run into a tempo. I was just behind him dreading it. It was a 5 am run and I think my average pace was like 7:10, slow and dreadful. We did do 6 miles though and I was just reminiscing all the good memories me and him had. The long runs in the middle of the day last year and all the good laughs we had going to Xc and track meets. Later that day I went back up to the high school to do my speed development workout. It was a 30 min run, doing drills and stretches. I got 4.25 miles in the 30 min. Then I did 6 strides for 200 meters. Then I had 4 accelerations for 60 meters at 95%. I felt real good but I was tired after. My legs were feeling a little dead. Good enough to still do the workout. Doing the cool down mile after, and I did some steeple work. After the workout I was able to get in the ice bath and just relax. It felt amazing to be back in the ice bath.

Saturday- Long Run Saturday, is always a great day. Today I had 85 min. I ran with my old teammate Charlie. We went to the Rowlett Preserve. We caught up from not talking at all, during the summer. We made jokes and we got to explore some spots that we never seen. It was beautiful. I was feeling good but my legs were a little dead. I ran 12.7 miles, I was going around 6:50 pace, being a little fatigued I just pushed through it. After the run me and Charlie went to 7/11 and got slurpees. My favorite post run drink. Time to rest for work tonight!


Sunday- Rest!


Week in Review- This week was a lot better than last week. I'm feeling better and I am starting to get ready for season. It's a weird feeling though. Knowing I'm going to be on a completely different team than before. New coaches, new teammates, new everything it seems like. It's also going to be a good thing. When you have those workouts where you feel on top of everything, it's an amazing feeling, sort of a runner's high I would say. We all get them as runners, but with a high comes with a low. It always is good to get an awaken and not take everything for granted.
