Week #6

Monday- Asking my coach what to do about an injury is always hard. Especially for me, I know what the answer will be. That is to stop running. Sometimes I listen and other times I am hard headed and wait till maybe its to late. Today I had a 7 mile progression run. I did this one a lot smarter than my last progression run. I did a mile warm up and a lot more stretching than what I normally do. Just to focus on my calf and try to make it better without getting it checked out or going into Therapy. My Progression run was good all the way up to the last mile, sort of typical, but at the same time it wasn't. My splits were 6:52, 6:41, 6:37, 6:35, 6:24, 6:12, 6:28. It was a 45 minute run. I could've quit the last mile but decided it's only one more mile. Why not? That wasn't the smartest idea for me. I didn't do a cooldown, I just finished my run and started stretching and put my legs up to try and drain the lactic acid.

Total miles- 8

Tuesday- Today was supposed to be a recovery run, but I did cross trained instead. I went swimming. Swimming laps in a pool and treading water for a while can get very boring, I learned especially when you are alone. I did 45 minutes of laps changing up strokes and about 25 of treading. Feeling good after though. It was definitely needed.

Miles- 0

Cross training- 70 minutes.

Wednesday- Today was a hill workout, so I went to Porter Pond in Mesquite. The area is known for its hills. I was feeling good, and my calf was feeling better. I had 9 hills with 15 min warm up and 15 min cool down. Got 2 miles in my warm up and couldn't use my gps because my gps is messing up, supposed to get a new watch or get the watch fixed soon. So I ran my hills after stretching and all that, still focused on stretching my calf. I ran the 9 hills, around the 7th one was when it got difficult. Doing all 9 this time on Las Lamas, definitely will take a toll on my body. Im just glad I will be able to ice in a bathtub again. Our training room reopened this week so thats a good thing.

mileage- 5

I would say it was around a mile or a little more total running up las lamas plus the 2 mile warm up and cool down.

Thursday- Doing the minimum amount of work for me sucks. I hate it. I want to go as far as I can go and enjoy the world. I was told today to start doing the minimum and stay off the trails, just so my calf will heal. It will be worth it though. Today I have a 40 minute run. I did the run at my old high school. I started running around and I was just watching my old coaches paint the facility. It was pretty boring running around my school. Even though last season hours were spent running around the school. I guess I like more of the scenic view than a plain view. The run wasn't so bad though. It was more of a recovery run today though. I don't know my pace, but I think I got around 5-6 miles. I did a cool down mile, and then finally got to get in the ice bath. I can tell ya I did not miss that feeling.

Mileage- 6-7 miles

Friday- I did my run this evening, I saw on my schedule it said 30 minutes and some other stuff. So I started doing my 30 minutes, I was feeling real good, First mile 6:45, then my second mile was 6:30, I knew I had to slow down, so my last 2 miles were at 6:50 and 6:42. I got 4.5 today averaging I think 6:40 pace. Later when I am doing my drills and stuff, I text my coach and ask what does "4-6x60 accel. 200 @ mile pace" mean. I get a text back saying dont do that. I was lowkey a little upset, I was feeling good. After I got told to not do the workout, I finished with a cool down mile. He told me to just cross train for 30 more minutes. I went to anytime and did a 30 minute bike ride, on a stationary bike. I did that then I did a arm workout and abs after. Wasn't that bad of a workout.

Total Miles-5.5

Saturday- What is usually a long run on Saturday, wasn't. It was a recovery run, my 3rd recovery run this week. Do I know why? No. I just went with it. I got up early and went up to Harry Meyers park. This park is known for its hills. I've ran multiple cross country meets here. I had 45 minute run and I just took it easy today. I got 6.4 miles in the 45 minute run. I felt real good. It was a relaxing run and I got to see the sunrise.

Total-6.4

Sunday- rest

Week in review- this week dad a good and a bad week. Bad because I had to do the minimum amount in workouts, and I wasn't allowed to run on trails. The good side of that is I'm letting my body take time to recover and get healthy so in cross season, I'll be good to go. I had some real good workouts which I was feeling good after and some bad ones. We all have them, I just need to find something to keep me having good workouts and not so many bad ones.
