State the state meet is over big shout out to everyone who competed, give yourselves around of applause! What a meet! With three days packed full of action.

We'll start things off 1A and go up from there. There were fourteen class 1A records broken in total. More than any other class. One dude who broke 2 records was Turkey Valley's Jake Merrell. The sophomore ran a blazing fast 1:55.11 in the 8 then turned around and ran a 4:22.60 in the 16.

In 2A action, New Deal boys defended their state title scoring 78 points while Shiner girls took home their first ever team title. We saw tons of exciting races here as well including some photo finishes in several races.

In 3A action, Nic Butts came back for redemption this year claiming the triple crown with his XC, 3200m and 1600m wins. Running a new class 3A state record 9:18.73 in the 3200.

In 4A action, the team titles were clinched by Stafford while Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson took the girls team title. For Stafford the team title was extra special take a listen. In class 5A the Fort Bend Marshall boys took home the team title for a 2nd year in a row. They didn't get quite as many points this year as their record-setting amount last year, but got the big win none the less. Their 4x100m stole the show Friday night dropping a 40.13 for U.S. #8 All-Time. In the distance races Abby Gray and Carter blunt both swept the 1600m and 3200m races for a 2nd year in a row.

In class 6A we saw tons of epic showdowns in several events but none better than the 4x4m relay battles to end the night. In the girls race it was Fort Bend Hightower who took home the win over Cy-springs running a blazing fast 3:42.06. In the guys 4x4 it was do or die for the DeSoto guys, they had to place 1st or 2nd to win it all. They came out and got the job done placing 2nd, while the Arlington Bowie guys took home the win.

Overall this meet was by far the best meet of the year so many exciting races and big moments I know it's something I'll never forget covering. But don't worry the racing action isn't over yet!! Thats right we will have the Meet of Champions LIVE on Texas MileSplit this weekend so be sure to check that out as the state's best battle against each other. Catch ya later.
