Moment No. 5: Tonea Marshall Setting The National High Scool Record

Tonea Marshall had some pretty big runs last year, but none bigger that the one at NBNI. The Arlington Seguin senior dropped the 60mH National Record running 8.08-- in the semi-finals! She then came back and lowered the record even more in the finals running 8.02! Just a day before in the prelims she ran what was at the time U.S. #2 all-time 8.16. After those runs, she now holds three of the four fastest times ever run by a high school girl in the 60mH. After her semi-final record-setting performance Marshall said, "I'm very excited, I wasn't going out there to run a national record or anything, I was just going out there to run my race."

In outdoors the national record holder dropped some fastest times as well. At Texas relays, she ran a wind-legal 13.04 100mH time. She also went undefeated all year winning the 5A state title in the event. This year she will be competing for LSU. We look forward to watching her progress in college as well as the rest of the class of 2016 as many look to have a big impact on their team from day one.
