Jalen Seals Wins Long Jump At Texas Relays, Hoping For Triple Jump Record

AUSTIN, TX. -- Fort Worth Boswell (Tx.) High senior Jalen Seals won the boys long jump in a mark of 24 feet, 6.5 inches on Friday at the Texas Relays, earning a new US No. 1 in the event.

"I was hoping for a PR but not everything goes your way," said Seals, whose PR is 24-11.5. "I'm still happy."

Seals ran 10.98 seconds in the preliminary of the boys 100m earlier in the day.

"I was a little worried about the long jump today," he later added. "It takes a lot of speed."

Earlier on Friday, Seals said he was shooting for the Texas Relays meet record of 50-8 in the triple jump. He'll compete in the event Saturday.

"Mostly, just rest and recovery," he said. "I know last year I didn't really rest up for the second day of Texas Relays. I didn't get out as best as I could. I just have to rest, recover, eat right and keep my head up."
