Last night at the 5-6A district meet finals, we got a chance to see some fantastic results. Quinn Owen set a new TX#1 and US#3 in the 1600m finals. Throughout the race, Laura Fairchild and Quinn Owen were leading the pack pushing ahead for the finish. Quinn's time of 4:51.28 knocked Julia Heymach out of the TX#1 spot she has held since early March.
Alex Maier and Reed Brown had a heated race in the Boys 1600m race as well. From very early on in the race the two athletes had a lead on the pack and battled for the #1 spot. In the final 400m, Alex Maier passed Reed and came away victorious with TX#10 time of 4:14.98. After the two races from districts between Reed and Alex, I predict that the two athletes will be battling it out all the way into the state meet.
