Meet Some Athletes Who Will Be The Busiest At State

ZACHARY JOHNSON

We'll start first with the young man of this group. Conroe Oak Ridge's ZACHARY JOHNSON will look to possibly lead his squad to a 6A team trophy in Austin. Johnson, who has been on fire in both the field events and the 300h all season will be participating in three individual events and one relay.

At the Region 2-6A meet, Johnson PRed in the triple jump by over a foot with a 49'5".75 leap that earned him a return trip to state in the event that he placed third last year, as a junior. At Regionals, he also PRed in the long jump where he also punched his ticket to state. Johnson jumped 23'11".75 to out distance the competition. However, he wasn't done yet. In the 300h, Johnson was looking for his third individual gold medal at the regional meet but had to settle for a silver with his second place finish.

Johnson is so key to his team that he also runs a leg on the Oak Ridge 4x100 that qualified for state with their 41.01. That will give Johnson a total of four events that he will compete in, at state. Conroe Oakridge also has two other individual qualifiers in the 400m and 800m as well as the 4x400. If Johnson and his teammates can get some much needed big points in the individual events and if both relays get double digit points then watch out for Oak Ridge to bring home a trophy.
