Salute To Seniors: Kaleb Campbell

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable race moment was when I had just won the 100m at district and I had to comeback right after the 100m and run the 4x200.  Alief Taylor was one of the top teams in the nation. The race started and we were in first the first 2 legs then our 3 leg got walked down. After that, I had to walk down Alief Taylor's anchor leg and we ran a US#16 1.25.86.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Jace Comick, Brandon Taylor, Champion Allison, Kary Vincent, Caleb Jolivete , Jeffrey Hulon Jr.

          What was your greatest accomplishment?

I was a 3x regional qualifier since freshman year. I was on tv for the kube 53 and I also made the Houston Chronicle for Athlete of the week nominee and also being a 4x junior Olympian.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I could've probably done more weight room training and ate a little bit more healthier.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Dealing with my own team being unmotivated and dealing with negative people since my freshman year on varsity. And also dealing with a hamstring injury sophomore and senior year.

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Do not let nobody tell you you can't do anything. Stay away from fake teammates and people because it will bring your drive and motivation down and it will get to you. Always aim for the sky and keep your eyes on the money and the bag.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

He taught me to be patient and to wait for things to come.

                    What are your college plans?

I will be attending the University of Texas at San Antonio on a track and field scholarship and I will be majoring in kinesiology and sports medicine. I am trying to go to the mass championships and run a sub 10 100m and a sub 20 200m and just being blessed to compete at the D1 level.

Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

I would like to say the k you to my parents , Coach Tyrone, Coach Brew a former Olympian, Coach Brandi, Coach Johnson, Coach Jackson and my teammates from middle school and AAU track with the Sonics and Houston Visions and all the other parents that supported me and took care of me. I would like to say thank you to my brothers who motivated and supported me to go this far in my career.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I love you momma! And oh yea do not claim people who were not there to starve with you they do not deserve to eat with you!

What was the funniest thing that happened during your running career? Hmmmm, the only thing I can thing of is throwing up on the track right before the 100m and the starter goes " someone get some water" I'm thinking it was for me to help me keep my food down and I then reach for the water and he goes " Not for you dummy! It's to clean the track
