Sanya Richards-Ross On The Recruiting Process

We caught up with five-time Olympic medalist Sanya Richards-Ross a few weeks ago to see what it takes to reach and excel at the highest level. One of the things the former Texas sprinter and her mother, Sharon Richards, discuss is the college recruiting process.

Richards-Ross, who retired last year, and her mom break down everything from how parents should handle their child's recruitment to what to expect on the visits themselves.

"I was getting recruited by every college you could think of," said Richards-Ross, who won an NCAA title in the 400m as a freshman at Texas in 2003. "They were coming to my house, and it started to feel normal to us. But it definitely wasn't normal when I think about all of my other friends and what their experiences were like. It was very rewarding at the end of it to be able to get a scholarship to the University of Texas and to continue pursuing my dreams."
