Anna Cathryn Griffit Wins the 17 -18 Year Old Girls Pole Vault At AAU Junior Olympic Gams

ANNA CATHRYN GRIFFIT of Taylor is one heck of an athlete and she is building an impressive profile. Today, Griffit ended her 2017 season with an AAU Junior Olympic Games championship.

Griffit, the two time UIL 4A pole vault champ put a perfect cap on the end of her season with this title. It wasn't as easy as she made it look. "I've been going since December and I'm glad it's done. It's been a long season and this is a good way to finish, but my body hurts a little." The phrase no pain no gain would be fitting, as the little pain Griffit says she currently feels it brought a season of much gains. As stated before, she repeated as the 4A pole vault champ and she also won the Great Southwest Classic in the pole vault.

Griffit's only defeat this season came at the Texas Relays where she still finished in fourth. She also had a good season in the long jump where she qualified for state in that event and finished 6th.

This upcoming school year, Griffit will be a junior and will have two more years of wrecking havoc in both the pole vault and the long jump. For now, she can call herself a national champion!
