The U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Announced the 2017 Track and Field Coaches of the Year from every state earlier this month. Coach Juris Green from the Woodlands High School won the boy's coach of the year and Coach Jessica Richards from McKinney North won the girl's coach of the year award. These coaches were selected based on their team's performances at state, how many athletes they had at state, the number of events the school had athletes in, as well as other criteria. This award began in 2014 and every coach who won are being considered for the USTFCCCA's National High School Track and Field Coach of the Year Award.
