One of the biggest meets in El Paso happened this past Saturday. The meet features nearly every school in the city, excluding the few schools who went out of town for competition.

Although the meet is one of the biggest meets, it does not feature a freshman division for the competitors. With this limit in place it ensures that only the top runners from each school can compete at this meet. For the varsity runners of the meet it allows them to run the distract meet and gain some experience on the course.

Once again Junior Liam Walsh of El Paso Coronado claimed the victory after his win last weekend. Walsh covered the course in a time of 16:39, just outrunning junior Sam Zambrano of Burges High School. Zambrano was only six seconds behind Walsh, finishing in 16:45.

In the end the Zambrano and the rest of the Burges boys claimed the team title. Fellow junior Luis Cuevas joined Zambrano in the top ten, placing third. In total the Mustangs scored 61 points, with Franklin High School coming in second with 99 points, and Coronado in third with 101 points.

In the girl's race Eva Jess continued her impressive season by claiming the individual title. Similar too last week she took to the front from the gun and never looked back. The freshman finished the race in 18:50, which was thirty-four seconds faster than junior Jannell Jaeger- Darakjy from Coronado. Darakjy ran 19:24 to finish in second.

In the end the Franklin girls claimed the team title. Senior Andrea Perez once again joined Jess in the top ten by placing fourth.  With these two runners leading the Cougars the team scored 95 points for first. The Coronado Thunderbirds earned second with 97 points for a close second and Horizon High School came in third with 144 points.
