Warhawk Track & Field Competes Well at Texas Relays

 AUSTIN, Texas – The ULM track & field team wrapped up a competitive overall performance at the Texas Relays on Friday at the Mike Myers Track Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.

Richard McKay led the Warhawks with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 63.42 meters.  Jarvis Mansfield set a personal record in the 110m hurdles as he crossed in a time of 14.81 seconds.

“We had some good performances yesterday and today,” head coach J.D. Malone said. “I’m proud of how our kids competed. Mychal Word and Keyon Jones ran strong legs in the 4x400m relay race, but the team didn’t qualify for finals.”

The men’s 4x400m relay squad finished with a time of 3:17.36, while Marcie Richard threw a distance of 37.20 meters in the javelin throw.

Heather Davis finished fourth in the high jump as she cleared a mark of 5-10.75 feet and missed third place by less than an inch. Destiny Montemayor took fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 43.41 meters.

Mychal Word finished 11th in the 400m hurdles on Thursday with a time of 52.82 seconds while Sadrina Shaw ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:03.39. Montemayor recorded a distance of 49.92 in the hammer throw.

The Warhawks will be back in action on Tuesday in the David Noble Multi Events Meet in San Angelo, Texas.
