2017 UIL 1A State Meet Preview

Virtual Meet Previews: Boys | Girls

Why: Cumby Miller Grove is looking to get back atop the awards stand this year. They last won it all in 2015, but were upended in 2016 by Hartley, but this year they have been running extremely well. At regionals, they ran a team average of 12:40.47. They could come close to placing their top five girls in the top ten and if they do so, then they'll be hard to beat. Blum, the nearest 1A team is almost a minute and a half back on the team average. However, if Blum can run a good race, they can possibly place their top three in the top ten and it'll have to be a sure thing if they are to have an opportunity to take the win.

Individuals: Sienna Collins from Saltillo High School will be looking to get back to the top of the awards stand. She was third in last year's race, but in 2015, she won it all as a freshman. Last year, she switched places with Spur's Izabelle Smith took third at state in 2015 but won it all last year. Collins had an unbelievable state track meet last spring and could continue that success this weekend.
