See How Texas Athletes Performed At Arkansas HS Invitational

Several Texas teams, clubs, and athletes travelled to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete on the University of Arkansas Campus.

As always, the Lone Star shines bright and this weekend was no different.

60M

Texas girls filled the 60m field  with half of the lanes belonging to Texas.

Kelly Rowe and JaEera Griffin were able to take two of the top three spots with their first and third place finishes. Rowe won with a 7.58 and Griffin was close behind in 7.67.

On the boys side, Lateef Birks was able to come away with a runner up finish with his 6.97 run in the finals.

 200M

In the girls 200m, the ladies dominated even more than the 50% of the 60m. This time, 6 of the 10 finals positions were Texas ladies and again, they came away with the win.

Lancaster sophomore Jayla Hollis won the event with her finals run of 24.17 ranking her #5 in the nation. The freshman phenom JaEra Griffin was right there again, this time in the runner-up position. Griffin ran a 24.7.
Allen senior Glenn Bender led seven Texas boys in the 200m finals. Bender ran 21.76 to improve his indoor PR.

60H

Jayla Hollis wasn't done winning, yet, Hollis would win two individual events on the day by adding the 60H to her days worth of accomplishments with her 8.83. McKinney Boyd senior Alyssa Miller placed third with a very solid 9.07.

Harrison Manuel from Garland Rowlett took second place in the boys 60H with an indoor PR. 8.26.

400M

Duncanville junior Arius Williams, McKinney Boyd junior Kalaya Ali, and Duncanville senior Payge Side swept the girls 400m. Three more Texas girls placed in the finals further demonstrating Texas' sprint dominance.

The Texas boys would have something to say about the boys side as well. Dallas Skyline senior LaKyron Mays led four Texans in the finals with his third place finish in 49.26.

800M

In the Girl's 800m, Plano West senior Toi Williams and Liah Collins of Rockwall place first and third, but also dipped under 2:20. Williams won overall with a 2:17.10 and Collins was third in 2:18.72.

In a stacked boys 800m race, Richmond Foster senior Chris Wise won with an overall time of 1:56.78 for an indoor PR. Robbie Woodworth a senior from Buda Hays would finish sixth and also run under 2:00 with his new 1:59.46 indoor PR.

1 Mile

The super, sensational, and scintillating sophomore from McKinney NorthLondon Culbreath easily won the girls 1 Mile with a smooth 5:04.30.  What was impressive about the race was that four other Texas girls joined Culbreath in the top ten and all of them did it running under 5:25. Hebron senior Abby Riordan finished fourth in 5:15.92, Decatur junior Hanul Lewis finished eighth in 5:23, Lucas Lovejoy junior Carson Hockersmith finished ninth in 5:23.40 and Round Rock McNeil senior Maddie Marrone finished in 5:24. 09 to round out the top ten.

On the boys side, it was a good ole fashioned Texas Tango taking the top three spots. Round Rock McNeil senior Dereck Elkins won in 4:24.79. Southlake Carroll senior Juan Arcila had a second straight impressive week of running the mile with his 4:25.81. Hebron junior Dylan Lowe had an impressive race with an indoor PR of 4:26.50.

3K

In the 3,000, it was the distance runners continuing the Lone Star dominance. Hebron junior Aaliya Fazel won the overall race with an impressive 10:24.22. TAPPS star, Celia Holmes the senior out of Waco Live Oak Classical School made it a 1-2 finish for Texas girls as she also ran impressively with an indoor PR of 10:33.80.

The boy race was super duper fast. While a Texas athlete did not win, we still placed second and third and in two blazing fast times. Aaron Gilliam and Adam Dayani are both seniors and perhaps only experienced runners could have handled that type of pace at this time of the season and indoors. Both Gilliam and Dayani are two of Texas' best distance runners. El Paso native Gilliam ran a PR of 8:41.17 for second and Hebron senior Dayani continued his hot streak from last week's race to run 8:46.47 for third.

Relays

You have to know, Texas shined in the relays, I mean, that would be unTexan like. In the girls 4x400, it was total domination. Texas swept all three top spots. NTC Elite ran a blazing 3:46.57 to wow the crowd. They were followed by the NTX Jackrabbits and The Wings in the second and third spots.

The boys 4x400 was much of the same. The Wings has been a dominant 400m club for the last several years and they won the boys relay with a 3:19.02. Richmond Gold and A Running Start both ran extremely well and made sure to end the meet with Texas on everyone's mind.

Pole Vault

Texas Pole Vaulters rock! At Arkansas, they let everyone at Arkansas know it. Mackenzie Hayward is off to a great start to her season. This weekend she added to her win total with a 12-10.25 ranking her as the 11th best jumper in the U.S. this season. Megan Fitzgerald and Grace Ridgeway tied for third place with 12 foot jumps.

Jacob Herrscher of Rockwall Heath is an all around field event stud. However, this season, he is on fire in the pole vault. Herrscher has vaulted higher then he ever has before in just this indoor season. This weekend he topped out at 15-6.25 for first place.

Long/Triple Jump

Jump queen -- Jasmine Moore made her season debut this weekend. Moore went for the double wins as she popped a 19-4.25 in the long jump for a U.S. #5 ranking. She also led a gang of Texas triple jumpers with her 41-8.75 good for the second best mark in the country.

High Jump

Alyssa Miller of McKinney Boyd and Alaina Pierce of Lucas Lovejoy went second and third in the girl's high jump. Miller jumped 5-5 and Pierce went 5-1.

Nicholas Prentiss of Keller won the boys high jump with a 6-4 performance.
