Analysis: Jake Renfree had a string of big races at the end of his junior cross country season. After finishing fourth at the TSSAA State Cross Country Championships in the D1 large school boys race, he placed eighth at the Foot Locker South Regional. That eighth-place finish earned him a spot on the line at Foot Locker Nationals, where he finished fifth overall. His best ever time on the XC course was 15:10.00 from his Foot Locker Regional performance.
On the track in the spring, Renfree posted a 1:53.19 in the 800m at the Tony Parrilla 800-Thrilla, a 4:08.11 in the 1600m, and a 9:13.90 in the 3200m both at the Dogwood Track Classic. He was also the TSSAA State Track and Field 1600m Champion running 4:12.70. The rising senior finished out his 2018 track season with a 4:12.13 mile at the Brooks PR Invitational.
