Only one sport throws the polls away and lets the athletes decide who the real national champions are. This year, as always, those champions will be crowned on December 5 at the 6th annual Nike Cross Nationals.

Nike Cross Nationals (OR): Boys Championship: Texas standout Craig Lutz TX wins the individual national championship in 15:09.2 outdueling Elias Gedyon CA 15:09.5 with Joe Rosa 3rd in 15:09.8. In an epic finish Boerne Champion, TX claims the boys team championship with 195 points over Ferris WA 201. The Woodlands TX third in 207; 4th Loyola IL 208; 5th Albuquerque NM 223. Girls Championship: Fayetteville Manlius NY 4-peats establishing themselves as one of the great programs in US history. Winning with 74 team points and an 18:21 average; Saratoga NY finishes second in 147 points and an 18:49 average. Fort Collins CO surprises for third with 161 points and a 18:52 average. To tide you over before the racing begins on Saturday here are three stories on competitors at this year's NXN Championship meet.  The first is a story about the Rosa twins, Joe and JIm, from West Windsor Plainsboro North (NJ), the second is a story about the Bishop Hendricken (RI) boys squad, winners of the NXN Northeast region, and the third is a story about the Germantown Friends squad from PA who finished 2nd at the NXN Northeast region.  Enjoy!
