2012 15th Annual Gulf Coast Scholastic Track Coaches Association Clinic

Friday January 6th & Saturday January 7th, 2012  

Location: The Clinic will be held at the University of Houston Alumni Center.

  • Take I-45 to Cullen
  • Exit Cullen and head west
  • The Alumni Center is on your right just past the baseball field.
    • Parking is available on the left
    • The address is 3100 Cullen

We are excited about having some of the top coaches and athletes in Track and Field Speak this year.

**There will be a Hall of Fame dinner Friday night. We are proud to announce Fred Newhouse as our Key Note Speaker.  Fred is an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4x400-Meter Relay and an Olympic Silver Medalist in the 400-Meter Dash.  In addition, he was the founder of Northwest Flyers, a youth track club in northwest Houston.

3:00-3:45 p.m.  Shot Put – Larry Howell, Rio Grande City High School; Distance – Trenton Hall, Brenham High School

4:00-4:45 p.m.  Horizontal Jumps – Funmi Jimoh, Nike/Team USA

Funmi Jimoh attended Fort Bend Dulles and Rice University.  She is a 2008 Olympian and was ranked as the #9 long jumper in the world in 2009.  Her personal best is 22-10.

5:00-5:45 p.m. General Meeting

6:00-6:45 p.m. Sprints – Darvis “Doc” Patton, Nike/Team USA

Doc Patton, formerly of Lake Highlands HS and TCU, has had an outstanding pro career spanning 10 years.  He is an Olympic Silver Medalist (4x100-Meter Relay), USA National Champion (200-Meter Dash), and World Champion (4x100-Meter Relay).  Doc has PRs of 9.89 and 20.03.
