AUSTIN, TX – McNeese State's Ashley Smith won the women's discus event and set a school record in doing so during the Texas Relays on Saturday.
The Cowgirl junior out of Arlington, Tx went 166-3 in winning the event in the B university/college division.
That mark broke the school record of 165-5 that had been set by Kataria Busljeta in 2006.
The effort also bettered Smith's personal best by six feet.
She beat out Florida's Karthlin Davis who placed second with a throw of 161-7.
