2016 McNeil Inv. Boys Gold Race
Some of the state's best athletes have run at the McNeil Cross Country Invitational over the years and they have dropped some outstanding times there. With a recent course change, the times seemed to get even faster two years ago.
As a freshman, London Culbreath dropped a 16:48.59 in her first go around at McNeil and her first race as a high schooler at Old Settler's Park. That happens to be the All-Time fastest girls 5K at McNeil. Last weekend, at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, Culbreath unloaded a 17:06 in her first real all out effort on the season. She could really lower the top time this season even further. Culbreath will have some big time talent in the field to run with. Adoette Vaughan, Ashlyn Hillyard, Halena Rahmaan, and Allison Wilson all ran in national championship meets last cross season and will be in this race.
On the boys side, things could potentially get sizzling fast this weekend. Graydon Morris also graced the McNeil course as a freshman back in 2016. He has been training ever since his Marcus I debut, with the intentions of being prepared for a good race at McNeil and end of the season. He dropped a 14:58 for one of the top All-Time performances and that could be put way in the past with this weekend's scheduled entries. He will have a host of capable racing parnters to push the pace, when Saturday rolls around. Carter Cheeseman, Cruz Gomez, Haftu Knight, and Nathan Perez, Anthony Monte, just to name a few all have the wheels to prouce something special this weekend.
