Tascosa teams win AISD meet

The boys and girls Tascosa track teams started their 2013 seasons with big victories in the Amarillo City Track Meet Friday and Saturday at Dick Bivins Stadium.

The Tascosa boys team dominated the event with wins in all of the running events except the 100 meter dash, which Amarillo High sprinter Alec Baldwin won in 11.20 seconds.

Tascosa also led by 33 points after the Friday's events, including wins by Noah Zorksy in pole vault (15-6 feet), Tion Wright in long jump (21-8), Kameron Deputy in triple jump (41-11) and Reid Splawn in the 3200 meter run (9:57.53).

Tascosa's girls team also won the meet, but Amarillo High put up a fight, coming up just five points short of Tascosa's 218 total.

Tascosa girls won the 400 meter dash and the 1600 meter relay, but Amarillo High won four running events.

Tascosa established its lead Friday with 90 points to Amarillo High's 75 points. Tascosa got wins from Markaaisha Richardson in long jump (15-3), Sharea Sutton in discus (110-3) and Lela Bradic in shot put (32-1).
