The Woodlands Dominate Texas A&M Invitational.

The premier meet in Texas this week was the Texas A&M Invitational. The meet hosted both Collegiate and High School action. In the Collegiate action meet host Texas A&M Men (#3 South Central Poll) dominated numerous other South Central ranked teams. That list included Stephen F Austin (#7), Sam Houston (#10), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (#11), and TCU (#14). Senior Tommy Bonn edged out teammate Sophomore Brain McKinstry by one second 24:41 to 24:42.

In High School action the Boys seeded race featured 7 ranked teams and dozens of top individuals. Senior Erik Stanley (Klein) won the meet with a great time of 15:16. He was followed by 4A standout Logan Sherman in 15:20. The Woodlands (#1) had an amazing 6 boys under 16:00 to win the meet with 39 points. The Woodlands were led by Senior Brain Sullivan. Brian placed third with a season best 15:22. Having an amazing breakthrough race to place fourth was 3A standout Alejandro Ruiz (Elgin) in 15:30. With The Woodlands easily winning the team title the battle was on for second place. Kingwood (#3) edged out Cinco Ranch (#5) by only 4 points to take the runner-up position and solidifying their #3 ranking.

The Girls seeded race also featured numerous top teams and elite individuals. The team race had 5 of the top 6 teams in 5A going head to head. The race was ran over 5k not the traditional 3200 distance. Cedar Park (#1) proved that they deserve to be number one with a convincing 19 point victory over the second place. What a battle it was for second- fifth. Southlake Carroll (#3) came out on top nipping Kingwood (#2) by 3 points 59-62.
