3. Girls Pole Vaulting- Annie Rhodes, Laken Taylor, Desiree Freier and Charlotte Brown.
What a break through year for Texas Girls Pole Vaulting. All of the girls listed above had outstanding performances in 2013. Annie Rhodes posted the #1 PV in the nation jumping 13-11.5 last year. Annie also won the New Balance Indoor Nationals in 2013. She is currently vaulting at Baylor. Laken won the PV at the State Meet Laken placed 5th at USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championship and 3rd at New Balance Indoor Nationals. Laken is now vaulting at Alabama. Desiree is the 5A State Champion over Rhodes and broke the 5A State Record in the process. She placed an impressive 9th at 8th IAAF World Youth Championships. Charlotte Brown is a tremendous story qualifying for the state meet as a legally blind athlete.
