The Track and Field team is sending eight current athletes to the USA Outdoor Championships. The five-day meet gets underway Wednesday at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State. Morolake Akinosun (100m), Kendall Baisden (400m), Shanay Briscoe (high jump), Marielle Hall (5,000m), Briana Nelson (400m), Kaitlin Petrillose (pole vault) and Ashley Spencer (400m) will represent the women, and Zack Bilderback (400m) the men. Ryan Crouser had qualifying marks in both the shot put and discus, but will not participate due to a foot injury suffered at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Morgan Snow (110mh) and Courtney Okolo (400m) also had qualifying times, but elected not to compete after a long collegiate season.

Longhorns Win Six National Titles in 2014: Sophomore Courtney Okolo capped off her stellar 2014 season with two of the Longhorns' four event titles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She captured the 400 meters in 50.23 seconds, tied for the fifth-fastest time in NCAA history, and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x400-meter relay that set a meet record in posting the second-fastest time (3:24.21) in NCAA history. Marielle Hall, a senior, became just the second Longhorn to claim an NCAA distance title (1,500, 5,000 or 10,000) when she won the 5,000 meters at the outdoor national meet in 15:35.11. Hall knocked off two-time defending champ Abbey D'Agostino of Dartmouth and Aisling Cuffe of Stanford, who had No. 1 regular-season time in the nation (15:11.13). Hall's school-record time of 15:19.26, set at the Stanford Invitational in April, was second. Okolo and Hall helped key the UT women's second-place showing in the team standings. Ryan Crouser followed up his shot put win at the NCAA Indoor Championships with one at the outdoor meet. Crouser, a junior, captured his third-straight NCAA shot put title in with a toss of 69-3 1/2 (21.12m) at the national outdoor meet. Crouser accounted for 10 of the team's 19.50 points (11th in the team standings) despite missing the discus after suffering a foot injury on his final attempt in the shot put. Junior Kaitlin Petrillose won the pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Championships by clearing a meet- and collegiate-record 15-1 (4.60m). In addition to breaking the indoor record of Arkansas' Tina Sutej (14-11/4.55m at the 2012 SEC Championships) Petrillose became one of just four collegiate women to ever clear 15 feet at either an indoor or outdoor collegiate meet.

Former Athletes In the Field: There will be nine former Texas athletes in the field at the USATF Outdoor Championships, including Olympians Bianca Knight (100/200m), Sanya Richards-Ross (400), Michelle Carter (shot put), Trey Hardee (decathlon) and Leo Manzano (1,500). Richards-Ross is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and Knight won gold in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2012 London Games. Hardee (decathlon) and Manzano (1,500 meters) won silver medals at the 2012 Olympics. In addition, three-time NCAA champion Alexandria Anderson will compete in the 100. Hayden Baillio (shot put), Kyle Merber (1,500m) and Joe Stilin (5,000) will also participate.

Texas Tidbits:
• Morolake Akinosun is coming off an impressive performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She accounted for a team-high 16 points (No. 6 on the UT single-season list at NCAA Outdoors) in four events. Akinosun was second in the 100m, fifth in 200, ran the anchor on the third-place 4x100m relay and the third leg on the victorious 4x400.
• Ashley Spencer finished third in the 400 (50.58), Shanay Briscoe was tied for 10th in the high jump (5-10.50/1.79m) and Briana Nelson reached the 400m semifinal at the 2013 USATF Outdoor Championships.
