Boys Meet Preview
David Strome finished 2nd last year
The favorite on the guys side is Carter Blunt of Frisco Independence High School. The senior has run 14:45 for 5k. Just last week the senior ran 15:12 to win the Frisco ISD Invitational. This weekend Blunt will be chasing Craig Lutz's course record of 14:53 set back in 2011. The next closest guy to Blunt is Colleyville Heritage's David Strome. The senior has run a 15:09 5k PR, and finished runner up at the Marcus I invite last year (15:29.48).
The guys from Southlake Carroll will look to reclaim the team title this year, after winning Marcus I last year scoring 44 points. The Dragons will be led by Reed Brown who finished the 5k course in 16:07 last year. Several teams will be in the battle for podium finishes including, Midland Senior High School, Frisco Wakeland, and The Colony. Two guys looking to lead Midland to a podium finish are Bryce Hoppel and Ruben Guerra who have both run sub 16 minutes for 5k. Frisco Wakeland has three guys in Justin King, Cameron King and Cutter Oglesby who have also run 16 minutes or faster for 5k. With that many guys having run sub 16 it's set up to be a close race.
