AUSTIN, TX - Four McNeese State runners turned in seasons best efforts during the opening day of the Texas Relays on Wednesday.

Jordan Neil had the top finish for the Cowboys, a second place in the men's 1500 meter run while Amy Guinn led the Cowgirls with a third place in the 1500 meters.

Also collecting seasons bests were Michael Dyer in the 800 meters and Johnathan Koenck in the steeplechase.

"It was a very good showing for our athletes," head coach Brendon Gilroy said. "Our fifth runner would have probably also had a season best had he not been knocked down. He did finish the race."

Neil turned in a 3:52.56 clocking in his second place effort while Guinn posted a 4:41.71 in the women's 1500 meters.

Dyer ran 10th in the 800 meters with a 1:53.0 and Koenck was sixth in the steeplechase at 9:37.16.

Alasdair Russell was the Cowboy who was knocked to the ground in his race, also the steeplechase. He finished ninth with a 10:06.83 effort.

No McNeese athlete will compete on Thursday but scheduled to participate on Friday in the meet are javelin throwers David Richardson, Ben Chretien, Julie Buller and Amanda LeJeune, John Jamail in the shot put and Lindsay Brooks in the high jump.
