Adrian Piperi Talks About IAAF World Youth Championship Experience!

The Woodlands' Adrian Piperi returns as the state shot put and dicsus champion and the World Youth shot put campion.

TX MileSplit:  So, last year you won just about everything you could imagine.  What is left out here for you to shoot for?

Adrian:  Mainly, I want to stay on top.  There are a lot of great competitors my age and I just need to stay focused and do my best to win.

TX MileSplit:  What was it like competing with the best in the world last summer, at the IAAF World Youth Championships?

Adrian:  It was an experience like no other.  I had never been out of the country before and it was amazing.  I also got to meet a lot of people from different cultures, which is also really cool.

TX MileSplit:  You won gold in the shot put.  Where is that gold medal right at this moment?

Adrian:  It is currently on a desk in my room.

TX MileSplit:  Talk to us about your relationship with two of your toughest competitors in the state (Blake Kuithe and Gabe Oladipo).

Adrian:  I have been competing with them since I was young.  It's been a long time and we are all friends.  We all know what each other can do and we compete well against each other.  At almost every meet that we go to together, it's typically us three on top here in the state.

TX MileSplit:   This past fall, I saw you at the State Cross Country championships.  What was it like traveling to support the coaches and cheer for The Woodlands guys and girls at the state meet and seeing them perform as well as they did?

Adrian:  It was really cool getting to see my teammates do as well as they did.  Watching one of the best high school finishes ever was pretty cool!

TX MileSplit:  Which event is your favorite and why?

Adrian I'd like to say I don't have a favorite event because I don't want to jinx either one of them.

TX MileSplit:  What areas do you feel you can improve at?

Adrian:  Just making sure my form is as best as it can be when I perform will allow me to do what I need to do to improve.

TX MileSplit:  What are your goals for this upcoming season (distances/accomplishments)?

Adrian:  My goals this year in the shot put is to hit 75 by state and 210 in the discus by state.

TX MileSplit:  Pancakes or Waffles?

Adrian:  Waffles!!!

TX MileSplit:  What is the all-time best Christmas present you have received?

Adrian:  That answer changes every year, lol.

TX MileSplit:  Later this year, the new superhero movie Batman vs Superman comes out.  In your opinion, who will win the battle between the two, and why?

Adrian:  Superman.  He has actual powers, so he has to win.

TX MileSplit:  If track and field didn't work out to be as successful for you what else would you be doing?

Adrian:  I'd probably still be playing football.
