Anna Elkin U.S. #1 10:46 3200m Race Report!

Last Thursday we raced at The Colony Cougar Relays where I ran the 3200, 800, and 4x4. Leading up to the meet I felt really good and was excited to race again. Going into the race my plan was the same as most races. I really wanted to focus on the first mile of the two mile and then see what I could run for the second one. I hit my goal splits for the first mile almost perfect and then tried to hold on as long as I could for the rest. I ended up winning the race and ran 10:46. I was really happy with how this race played out. I didn't run exactly as fast as I wanted to but I know there are many more two mile races to come where I'll have the opportunity to accomplish my goals. I had about two hours in between the 3200 and 800 so going into my second race I really just wanted to run as fast as I could. I won the race in 2:18 which I wasn't very happy with but I can't complain about a win & it was a good opportunity to get in some speed work. Lastly, I'm not sure what my split was in the 4x4 but our team came in second. Overall, the varsity girls and boys won the meet which we were all very excited about! It makes me really happy to see everyone get excited about winning the meet & I'm glad that I could contribute a small part to the team success. I'm really looking forward to another hard week of training & then racing again on Thursday!
