National Weekend Rundown for March 19

National Champ Carter Blunt Back From Injury

In June, Carter Blunt won a New Balance Nationals Outdoor title in the two mile. In November, Blunt won a 5A Texas state championship in cross country. And then...radio silence. It came out in late November that Blunt tore his plantar fascia, and his fitness has been unknown since. (Blunt did run a 54 second 400 in February)

Tonight at the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays in Dallas, the UCLA commit showed exactly what he's got. A year after setting the 3200 meet record in 8:57, Blunt acquitted himself capably. He won the boys 3200 over Nic Butts and Dan Golden after sitting at the back of the pack for much of the race. Blunt closed in 61 seconds for his final 400 and covered the full 3200 in 9:09.79, #5 in the US this year. Watch the race here:

You can watch the rest of the meet live on MileSplit tomorrow.
