Girls 800m
In addition to the two-lap race, 1A state cross country champion Siena Collins is entered in the 3200m, and will definitely be one to watch in both races. She enters the 800m with the fastest seed time, 2:23.42. But a few other girls are also ready to contend for top honors, including last year's 1A state 800m champion, Kaytlin Waldron of Rocksprings. Waldron won the title last year in 2:22.54. Others in the mix include Shelby McWilliams from Cross Plains (third in 2015), Cheyenne Shed from Dime Box (fourth in 2015), Madison Harlow from Paint Rock (fifth in 2015), and Haven Rogers from Zephyr (seventh in 2015). With so many returners, we could see a 1A record-setting, sub-2:20 performance from this group if conditions are right (state 1A record is 2:20.43). (Last year's results)
