Salute to Seniors: Timou Toure

Name: Timou Toure
School: Southlake Carroll

1. What was your most memorable race/moment?
Probably when I ran the TX Distance Festival elite 5k my sophomore year. Nobody expected anything of me so I was really just in the race to have fun. Never in a million years would I have thought I would run 15:12 and place well too. That race is what started my road to try and run at the collegiate level.

2. Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?
My teammates. Nowhere else in Texas will you a see a more united team who pushes each other day in and day out during training and racing.

3. What was your greatest accomplishment?
I think I would have to say being apart of two state championship teams. There is nothing I have felt that is more accomplishing than standing on the medal stand with your best friends and seeing all of your hard work pay off.

4. If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
I would change my entire freshman year. That time in my life I didn't care about running at all and would skip workouts and things like that and I feel I could have been even better if I did not take my freshman year for granted.

5. What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Injuries and sickness.

6. What will you miss the most?
My coach. I have known him since I was a kid doing summer track programs and I will always look up to him whether it is for running or life.

7. What advice would you give to younger athletes?
Make sure to train hard but also have fun. You are only in high school once so you want to make those four years count.

8. What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
My coach is the realest person I know. He will always let you know what you can and cannot do at that time in your training. He helps with goal setting and sets short-term goals that you want to hit on the way to your long term.

9. What are your college plans?
I will be attending the University of Oklahoma and I will be continuing my running career. BOOMER SOONER

10. Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?
My mom. I would not be to the point I am if it weren't for that lady. Love you mom.

11. Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Boomer Sooner
