Boys 5A/6A Showdown
Who: Individuals- Daniel Viegra, Justin Botello, Kyle Doty, Chris Lee
Teams - Pflugerville Henderickson, Round Rock
When: Friday. August 26th, 2016
Why: On the guys side, some of the best competition in Central Texas will be at this meet. Two big names to watch for are Daniel Viegra, and Justin Botello. The Pflugerville Henderickson duo will look to run one-two with their teammate Tyler Mcdaniel not far behind. One guy who will look to break them up and get in the mix for the win is Bruceville-Eddy's Kyle Doty. The 2014 class 3A state cross country champion is coming off an impressive track season. In the spring he had to match up with guys like Nic Bitts and Buster Roberts in class 3A. Despite the tough competition at state Doty finished 3rd in the 1600m and 4th in the 3200m. Yes, Doty might be in class 3A but he's no stranger to running up with the big dogs in tougher classes. This might be a bit of a challenge for him though going up aginst Viegra. The Pflugerville Hendrickson senior has had plenty of time to rest and recover. His last race was the UIL 6A - District 13 cross country meet last fall. With Viegra healthy again Botello is sure to be by his side. The two crossed the finish line basically holding hands at their district meet last fall. Look for these three guys to be leading the pack on Friday morning. Look for Pflugerville Hendrickson and Round Rock to be in the mix battling it out for the team title.
