Four Fast Take Aways From Nike South

TAKE AWAY ONE

The first quick take away is that The Woodlands College Park is FOR REAL!  We knew coming into this season that the boys were going to be pretty good.  As the season progressed, they started to prove that they were going to be a force to reckon with.  Last week, they upset US #19 St Thomas Acquinas and let everyone know that they are going for the gusto this season. At Nike South, they showed that last week was no one hit wonder performance. They were able to split up their Conroe ISD rivals (The Woodlands) top 5, which is something no other team has been able to do this season. College Park was able to put their 1,2, and 3 runners in between The Woodlands 2 and 3 runners. The rest of the season will show what else the College Park boys are able to accomplish.

The second part of this quick take belongs to the College Park girls. The girls program is on a mission as well. They lost some key seniors from last season, but they gained some awesome freshmen to go with key returners and now they are hitting their stride.  Not many teams can survive having a girl go down in the first 100m (without a race call back) of a major invitational and recover.  Well, the College Park girls did just that at Nike South and were still able to place second behind a state ranked team.  They placed three girls in the top ten including freshman Madeline Orr who won the whole race.  College Park had a team average of 19:50 at Nike South, letting us know to keep an eye out for College Park.....the boys and the girls!
