Moment No. 3: Luling Earns 7th Straight State Title
One of the biggest moments of the year was the guys from Luling earning their seventh straight state title in a row. The feat had never been done before, and they did it in dominant fashion scoring 50 points. Overall they finished 1st, 4th, 12th, 16th and 17th. They were led by a strong senior contingent of Buster Roberts, Issac Castillo, Edwin Zamudio, Leonardo Reyna, Peyton Roberts, and Raphael Deases. Every year after their win they have a tradition of jumping in the pond to celebrate. After the teams, 2015 win and finding out about the tradition Texas MileSplit assistant webmaster Will Grundy told them that if they won in 2016 he would jump in the pond with them. Holding true to his word he went in the pond to take a swim with the team, check it out in the video below.
