Jake Merrell of Turkey Valley is scheduled to compete in the 17-18 boys 800m, 1500, and 3,000m, this weekend at the AAU Southwestern District Qualifier.
Meerrell who just completed his junior year was the first male in UIL history to win the distance triple crown by winning the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Last weekend, Merrell competed at the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic where he represented Team Texas in the 800m and 1600m. This weekend, he will compete for the Amarillo Spartans Track Club.
