Txrunning Athlete Spotlight

Interview with Prezel Hardy

Alex Aldaco  Congratulations on a great start to your season. What do you attribute to your break out performances so far this season?

Prezel Hardy: The desire to be more than just a regional competitor. The past two years I made it to the Regional Qualifying Track Meet but that is was it, I want State this year.

Alex Aldaco   What other sports do you compete in besides track?

Prezel Hardy: I play Football as well.

Alex Aldaco   Do you run club summer track? If so how has it helped your progression.

Prezel Hardy: Yes, this past summer was my first year running as I joined with Primetime Rollers. Running summer track brought to my attention that there is more to the world than just Killeen, Texas. Qualifying for the Junior Olympics made me realize that other athletes are performing just as well, if not better, and also made me a more accepting person.

Alex Aldaco   Everyone knows it takes a great supporting cast for an athlete to be successful. Give us some names of people who motivate you and have helped you in your progression.

Prezel Hardy: There are a lot of people that are very supportive, but to name a few my Mom and Dad, my Grandparents, and many other family members (but they don’t scream as loud as my Mom does). My brothers from our team, Antonio, Michael Holloway, Terrance, Larry, Michael Bryan, and Brian. Then there are my best friends Sammy, Melody, and Devante. They support me in all that I do and they motivate me to keep going so that I don’t let them down and lose focus.

Alex Aldaco   Give me a time you think you can run if you have a perfect race this season.

Prezel Hardy: I’m shooting for a 10 flat or a 10.1 hopefully.

Alex Aldaco   Name a competitor you can’t wait to race this season?

Prezel Hardy: I think everyone in the state is aware who this may be, Lache Seastrunk. And I also hope to see Derrick Mays in the 4x200 meter relay.
