Fast Rising Prospect DJ Henderson Commits To Oregon

One of the fastest rising prospects in track and field committed to Oregon on Monday, just six months removed from the biggest jump of his career at the Great Southwest Classic.

He fielded heavy interest from Georgia, Oregon, and Florida State, where he went on official visits, but then canceled one last official visit to Texas Tech after deciding on his future.

Henderson's final two programs centered around the Ducks and the Seminoles, he said.

Cedar Hill Trinity Christian (TX) High's DJ Henderson began competing in the sport as a junior -- as a former basketball player -- and in that season sprung to life in the long jump, where he went from 19-foot jumps to 23 feet and then to a U.S. No. 1 wind-legal (+1.6) mark of 25-5 at the Great Southwest Classic in June.

With one year left, expect Henderson not only to get better but also more versatile as he begins to carve his potential out even more.
