Missouri's state motto is "Show Me" and that is exactly what Lee's Summit, Missouri native KC Lightfoot did at this weekend's Lovejoy Texas Express Holiday Indoor Pole Vault meet.
He showed just how ready he was to exhibit his skills and that he is primed and ready for the 2018 season. By ready, I mean 17-6 type of ready. Today, the Baylor commit was not to be denied as he topped a couple of college competitors and several real good attempts at 17-9.25.
Lightfoot is no stranger to big time performances and high heights. Last year on the same Lovejoy runway, he went 16-3 for fourth place. Later on in the indoor season, he would eventually go for what was his indoor PR 17-4.25 as well as a 17-1 All-American performance at the New Balance Nationals Indoor meet where he would place second overall.
If his initial performance from last year and eventual indoor progression is any sign of what this year could be then watch out!
After the indoor season, Lightfoot took off like a rocket as he rattled off eight total vaults over 17-0 and seven in a row. He didn't end the season until he won the Great Southwest Classic and he did that in stunning fashion with a 17-8.5 vault.
