Workout Wednesday: Krianne McBride AAU 3,000m Record Holder


Krianne McBride, Elgin, Texas burst onto the running scene over the summer at the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Ypsilanti, Michigan. That is where she broke the AAU national record for 12 year old girls in the 3,000m when she ran 10:11.30 running for her club team Texas Thunder, Leander, Texas.

McBride continued her outstanding week a the AAU Junior Olympic Games by also medaling in the 800m with a 2:20.63 (3rd) and in the 1500m 4:44.32 (2nd). 

This season, her coaches and parents are looking to compliment her running ability with core strength and speed training and we were able to catch up with Krianne at the Michael Johnson Performance Center (MJP) in McKinney, Texas.

Over this past weekend, Mcbride was able to get in some early competition when she ran at the Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational. In her first indoor experience and against older competitors, she ran 5:32.19 (4th place) in the mile and 11:41.14 (3rd place) in the 3200m. McBride is scheduled to hit the track again this weekend at the Flight International Invitational in Elgin, Texas and then on February 24, she'll run at LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
