Watch Three FAST Boys 200m Prelims From District 23-6A!!!

It is the second weekend of district meets and the heat is picking up on the track.

The district 23-6A track and field prelims were yesterday and it produced some fast 200m races

Watch as they guys showed why front row seats for the finals is imperative to wee what may be the fastest 200m race of the year so far!

George Ranch senior Lateef Birks and Myles Kitt-Denton of Dawson got things started.  Birks was on the inside and got a jump on the heat as he rounded the curve. Kitt-Denton was on the outside and reacted when he saw Birks. The two battled to the line and resulted in a 21.3 for Birks, good enough to move both guys on to the finals.

Alief Hastings' Rashad Boyd and George Ranch's Dylan Swain put on a show in their preliminary race. Swain pulled right along side Boyd coming off of the curve, but Boyd is coming off a strong Texas Relays where he helped his team run well. Boys held off Swain just enough to provide the excitement, the the real oohhs and aahhs came at the end of the race when the times flashed on the clock as 20.93 lit up the scoreboard.

In the third heat, Dawson sprinter Jacolby Shelton dropped a 21.31 for the third straight elite heat winning time of the day. Shelton is no stranger to fast times this season as he is the #2 200m runner in Texas and #12 ranked guy in the nation.
