Texas Thunder Track Club star youth distance runner Krianne McBride has AAU national titles and even an age group national record.
However, she has what the sport needs and that's a rival.
McBride and Florida star and Cha'iel Johnson daughter of former All-Pro NFL wide receiver Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson have connected for some classic races that have come down to the wire.
This morning, the two ladies provided another classic moment with their race in the 14 year old girls 1500m.
McBride entered the meet as the 2017 national champion and record holder in the 3,000m but was runner up to Johnson last year in the 1,500m and was third in the 800m also behind Johnson.
Today, she evened the score a little bit with a victory in the 1,500m holding off Johnson with a kick in the last couple of meters. The two young ladies will meet once again in the 800m as both girls continue to drop their time in that event as well. McBride has a 2:16 PR and Johnson has a 2:10 PR.
The 1,500m seems to be the middle ground of both girl's strengths.
How much better can youth track and field get with two big time names and big time talents that will be around for the near future in the sport with a friendly rivalry?
