Rank: #8
Schoppe had a wild and crazy roller coaster ride last year.
He came off an awesome freshman year when he qualified individually for the UIL 6A state meet in cross and had a season best (SB) of 15:40.51 and then in the 3200m in the track season with a 9:19.01 SB.
All signs were pointing for an even better sophomore cross season last year, then he had an injury and sickness that derailed things.
Schoppe stuck with it and endured through the hard times. He salvaged the season and still ran a 15:37 5K PR managing to qualify for state meet where he still improved on his freshman year finish by making the top 25.
Track season is when things began to get back to normal for him. He ran season PRs of 58.90, 1:58.05, 4:12.85, 9:09.26. He qualified for the UIL 6A state meet in both the 1600m and the 3200m as he ran away with the UIL 6A state title in the 3200m.
With Schoppe getting his groove back during the Spring, we'll see if he can add another state title to his list of accomplishments this fall.
