W2W4: What To Watch For At Region 3 In Each Classification

Region 3-3A

If you think class 1A and 2A is going be competitive and have big state meet players, then don't turn away from the 3A race.

In the girls race, everyone will be trying to take down East Bernard who has had a firm grip on the region and the state in the last three years. They are the back to back to back 3A team state champs. Eustace has been one of 3As top teams as well and they will be looking to get back to the top beginning on Monday. They could do so in a dominating fashion. They can not only put their top five scorers in the top ten, but they might be able to get their entire roster of seven in the top ten.

They are led by Kayla Fruen who has one of the top times in the region for both 3200m and 2 miles and could win the regional title. But, hold up. In order to do that, she'll not only have to beat the girl who won last year's regional race, but the same young lady who also won the state meet. Little River Academy's Jenna Brazeal is the defending state champ in 3A and has a pretty good 3 mile time on the season and she won't let her title go that easily.

The boys 3A race could see a thick pack of runners vying for the win. There are several boys who are all with in 10-15 seconds of each other's season best. Dalton Page of Eustace has the top 5K time of all regional competitors and could use the potential win as a big chance to help his team. The team race could be even closer than the boys individual race. Eustace could be in for a dawg fight with Pollok Central as models show the two teams could be separated by as little as one point.
