Flower Mound's Alex Maier Signs With Oklahoma State

Flower Mound (TX) senior Alex Maier has signed with Oklahoma State.

Maier took three official visits to the University of Texas, University of Colorado Boulder and Oklahoma State. 

According to his father, Maier ultimately chose Oklahoma State.

The Texas native is one of the top distance athletes in the country and is a two-time Nike Cross Nationals All-American and a recent UIL Class 6A state cross country championLast year at NXN Maier finished 14th and as a sophomore he placed fifth.  He won is state title race in early November in a career-best 14:34.92 for 5K.

Maier has strong PRs on the track as well, the future Cowboy clocked a 14:25.60 in the outdoor 5K at the Texas Distance Festival last March. He also has run 8:52.30 for 3200m and 4:10.88 in the 1600m. 

He will be a strong addition to the FloXC No. 16 ranked Cowboys, who finished fourth this past weekend in the NCAA Midwest Region.
