Throughout the year, if you need to locate Trey Grant all you need to do is head down to Burnet High School's track. In the fall he focuses on strength training and tempo endurance workouts to get ready for the indoor season. During the season, indoor and outdoor track, he adds more speed work. Although sometimes he gets in a rut, to get out of the rut he'll "take a little bit of time off to relax and regain my confidence."
Breaking the Burnet High School record in the 400m (48.78) and 200m (21.46), then to make it to State are Trey's short-term goals. "To encourage myself I think about why I am running track and my ultimate goal of running at a D1 school. And I know if I don't give it my all and slack off, I won't accomplish all of my goals ... The hunger of winning a state championship drives me forward." His highest aspiration for running is to receive an athletic scholarship from a large D1 school.
Why don't you run cross country? "I do not run cross country because I am a sprinter and, in the fall, I focus a lot on strength training, and doing tempo endurance workouts to get ready for the indoor season. If I did cross country, I wouldn't have the time to focus on those things. Also, all of the long runs and slow running would strengthen my slow twitch muscles and not my fast twitch muscles."

As a baseball player, Trey pitches and plays center field. His other two brothers Rob and Sam also play. They're TRIPLETS! Can you imagine? When it comes to pranks, Trey and Rob often team up on Sam simply to annoy him as brothers do. Wake boarding and family vacations are a favorite pastime. Attending church to "worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" is a regular occurrence.
School comes pretty easy to Trey, but he "still has to study hard ish" to make sure that he keeps his grades up. He strives to graduate in the top ten percent of his class. After college, he wants to be an accountant for some business "and travel to many places and live his life to the fullest."
"I have wonderful coaches that really support and encourage me in everything. Casey Carr (Burnet head track coach), is amazing at what he does, without him I definitely wouldn't be near as good as I am today. He pushes me through hard workouts and gives me the confidence that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to." (Trey Grant)
