The top sprinter nationally, Matthew Boling (Houston Strake Jesuit) continued his epic 2019 track and field season.

Having already dropped a 10.22 wind legal time and a 10.20 wind aided best on the season, he lowered his best marks with a 10.109 from at the UIL District 23-24 6A Area meet, at Challenger Stadium.

Prior to discovering his abilities in the 100m, Boling had previously been known as a 400m runner with two state meet qualifications, a 46.15 PR, and a 2018 UIL 6A runner-up finish.

The long jump is another event that he had previously excelled in and continues to do this season. Boling is the defending UIL 6A state long jump champion and has a 2019 season best and national leading mark of 26-3.5. You also have to include the 200m, where Boling has run 20.58 this year.

Last summer, Boling qualified for the 2018 USA World Junior team for the 4x400 relay. Considering he entered the season presumed to be the state's top quarter miler, Boling has three national leading marks and two of them (100m/200m) weren't events he planned on competing in or having this much success in. Boling is currently going through the qualifying rounds to attempt to qualify for the state meet in events that weren't even in his plans when the season began.

Next weekend, Boling will compete at the UIL Region 3-6A meet with hopes to qualify for the state meet.
