When you get Texas track and field athletes to go down to Florida, you'd expect a big sprint match up.

However, the tables were turned in several of the youth girls age divisions. Instead of seeing Texas' strength in the sprints and relays, we saw young distance girls pushing the pace at the AAU National Club Championships

The 13, 14, and 15-16 year old girls 3,000m saw Texas girls take home the top spots in each age group. Jordynn West of the Dallas area won the 13 y.o. girls ran at a 1:25 pace each lap to earn almost a 28 second win with a 10:43.80 winning time.

West would also add top finishes in two other events with her fourth place finish in the 800m (2:22) and another championship in the 1500m (4:55).

Texas Thunder Track Club 14 y.o. Isabel Conde Frankenberg helped Texas distance runners flex their muscle as she won the 3,000m in her age group. As with West, Frankenberg also won by a huge margin as her 10:42.51 was almost 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up.

Frankenberg added a runner-up finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:54.21. Youth star and age group record holder Cha'Iel Johnson was the only athlete able to top her.

Isabella Edwards of Texas Independent Homeschool continued the momentum with her win in the 15-16 y.o. 3,000m. Edwards laid down a 1:22 pace per lap on her way to a 10:40.93 time and her 30 second plus win.

Edwards would also add another top finish in the 1500m with a fifth place run with her 5:05.80.

Texas also saw two age group wins in the boys 800m. Darius Rainey of The Wings Track Club and Collin Williams of Richmond Elite.

Rainey won the 15-16 y. o. boys 800m with a 1:55.85 while Williams won the 17-18 y.o. division with a 1:53.20 for the win. Both of these victories qualify both Rainey and Williams for the AAU Junior Olympic Games later on this month.
